Final Steps – King and Kittitas County
The Homebuyer Interview is given by 1-2 Habitat staff or volunteers. We do this to make sure you understand the purchase and selection process as well as assess your need and ability to purchase a Habitat home. This is also your chance to ask us questions about the process.
The Selection Process differs depending on what kind of home you apply for:
- New Construction – Your application is scored based on our selection criteria: income eligibility, ability to pay, and demonstrate need. We score the applicants and select those we determine are the most ready to buy a home.
- Resales – Are selected on a first-come-first-serve basis. The first complete application we receive that fulfills all specified criteria for the home is selected.
Final Approval: Once we have all the paperwork we requested, including a pre-approval letter from a lender, we review your application and if selected, send it to our Senior Leadership Team for final approval. Once we’ve got their stamp of approval, you will be notified by Habitat staff that you have been approved to purchase your home.
