Homebuyer Education

Churchill Mortgage Virtual Homebuyer Seminar

Through this seminar, you will learn the primary steps to homeownership, budgeting tips for home financing, how to complete a mortgage application, tips for selecting the right loan program, what to know before shopping for a home, and key mistakes to avoid. Churchill Mortgage can also provide a free one on one consultation after the class, assist with the application process and review the credit report. At the conclusion of the workshop, attendees will receive a copy of their credit report and a certificate of achievement from the WA State Housing Finance Commission and DFI valid for two years from the date of issuance. 

Urban League Homebuyer Education Workshop

This five-hour workshop will help you meet the WA State Housing Finance Commission’s education requirements for down payment assistance and a variety of affordable housing programs and opportunities for qualified applicants. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will receive a certificate of achievement from the WA State Housing Finance Commission and DFI valid for two years from the date of issuance. 

Urban League Home Buyers Club

The Home Buyers Club is an 18-month program designed to assist first time home buyers through the home buying process. The program will provide individuals with clear and concise information along with trusted guidance from HUD Certified Housing Counselors. The program will also include a group of dedicated individuals whose primary goal is to purchase a home at the completion of this 18-month program.

HomeSight Virtual Homebuyer Education

This free course consists of 3 classes via Zoom. The course is meant to be interactive, with plenty of time to ask questions and learn from an experienced instructor. Upon completing all 3 classes, participants will receive a certificate of achievement from the WA State Housing Finance Commission and DFI valid for two years from the date of issuance, and access to additional down payment assistance opportunities.

Parkview’s Pre-Purchase Program helps low to moderate-income households with a member with a disability purchase homes of their own through one-on-one housing counseling, free first-time homebuyer education classes, and up to $90,000 in layered down payment assistance.

This locator shows you affordable apartments within market-rate buildings in Seattle. For each home, it will provide information about AMI limits, school zones, and number of affordable units in the building.

Affordable Housing Search Tool

Aptfinder.org is a non-profit website formed to connect low income households with affordable apartment communities throughout Washington State. Listings are voluntarily advertised on the site by owners and managers of rental apartments for low-income households whose annual income is below 80% of area median income.

KCHA Housing Search

King County Housing Authority has you fill in your household information and then shows you affordable rental opportunities that fit your needs, in addition to telling you if you might be eligible for Section 8 vouchers.
